RemoteRelay, Matter and Google Home: status and limits

Matter is an experimental path for connecting RemoteRelay to Google Home and other controllers. Choose it for actions you can verify in your setup, not because it necessarily matches other integrations.

What you need

  • A RemoteRelay version exposing the experimental Matter option.
  • A compatible controller and connectivity for pairing.
  • Review the actions and publishing mode available in your installed version.

Getting started

  1. Check Matter's status in RemoteRelay before choosing this path.
  2. If available, use the pairing code shown by the app.
  3. Test an individual action and note how your controller presents it.
  4. For different features, compare the specific Home Assistant, Apple Home and Alexa guides.

What to check before choosing Matter or Google Home

Matter is an integration protocol, not a promise that every controller exposes every PC feature. Review your version's experimental options, pair and record controls actually displayed in Google Home or your chosen controller.

Test an action while the agent runs and after stopping it. An accessory running on the PC cannot answer while that computer is off. Independent Matter Wake-on-LAN is not claimed without a configured external sender.

For scripts, sensors or cameras, compare the dedicated Alexa, Apple Home and Home Assistant paths. Support in one integration does not establish Matter parity. On Android, also consider the Companion beta or the Home Assistant app.

Compatibility and limits

Experimental: no promise of feature parity, universal wake or Matter certification. An accessory dependent on the PC agent becomes unavailable when that agent stops.

Test the action on your computer before including it in a routine. Available plans and features are detailed in the portal.
